T. Kingfisher should be applauded for not only attempting it, but for also creating one of the finest modern horror books you’ll ever read.
"What Moves the Dead", has taken Edgar Allan Poe’s classic short story, The Fall of the House of Usher, and built upon it. The result is something glorious.
It takes a lot of daring to attempt something like this. Here are my top three books I recommend reading by T. Kingfisher
H.P. Lovecraft is a classic horror author known for his dark, supernatural stories. Must will say you either love him or hate him but must will agree that he's writing puts a nasty light on humanities hope and belief in a loving god but, without this dark look on life the world would be missing a cornerstone on horror culture.
He's best known for his Cthulhu Mythos stories.
Clive Barker is not only a horror author but also a film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. His line of work definitely helped him learn/know the ends and outs of what visual, sounds, and words will make his audience stop dead in their tracks from horror. Barker often blends elements of fantasy and horror together making the unreal seem imaginable. If you looking to loss so sleep for the next couple of weeks I recommend reading
Anne Rice is best known for her gothic horror novels. Throughout all of her books, Rice displays lush and sensuous description, complex plots that focusing on history, art, and mythology, and an ongoing discussion around the nature of good and evil and what it means to have or lose faith. Anne Rice publicly denounced the Catholic Church twice. Both times lead her to return to the horror genre in her writing and the reads can truly feel her disgust with the church and religion; which is truly terrifying to be in.
