Books I Read this Week public library challenge

Writer: Emily TurnageEmily Turnage

I've changed myself to start reading my way through my towns public library for at least one year. My goal is to save money that I would normally be blowing at every book store I see but also to rekindle my childhood love for reading. What better place to do this then the library where I spent must my summers as soon as I could read.

Well here we go we one.

The first book I grabbed off the shelves was The nanny by lana ferguson.

The nanny, romance books, spicy Romance books, cozy Romance Books, romance novels, quick romance books to read, read list
The nanny by lana ferguson

This was such a cute, spicy read - emphasis on spicy. cassie is the new nanny to a very hot chef and single dad except a little bit into her new gig, she realizes she knows him from a past life as her favorite subscriber to her retired OF page it was that hook that had my nose in this book waiting for the fallout. Sadly I felt as though the books plot that I was expecting never came. This contemporary romance dragged on being held up by spicy scenes and background characters. I feel like this could have been a great book if the plot was bigger. For a contemporary romance it was cute and funny but should have been less then 400+ pages

tropes: nanny x single dad, forced proximity, kinda second chance romance

You, you book series, You tv show, you Netflix show, thriller books, psychology books

Caroline Thompson has yet to disappoint me. I love her writing it is honestly like nothing I've ever read before. This book was a hoot and I still love Joe and his hilarious musings. I don't tend to read many *series* but this one is so damn good. This particular installment was nearly as good as the first. I was so happy when I turned the last page and realized that this isn't the last we'll be hearing from Joe. Bring it on, Kepnes, BRING IT ON!!

Thhe whole You book collection is a 5 star review for me.

The marriage game by Sara desai

Sweet and sassy! Sara Desai made me laugh, smile, swoon, blush, and giggle with this delightful story. What a fun twist on the enemies to lovers trope. The whole book especially the dad made me feel like I was watching My Big Fat Greek wedding again which is definitely a win in my opinion. Without spoilers I will say the love interest was not what I was expecting or wanted for the main character but I feel like it was okay.

The wedding party, by Jasmine guillory

I think I set my expectations too high for this book because it was enemies to lovers. However it didn't even come close to an okay read for me. The characters had no chemistry between them and why they "hated" each other was because of miscommunication in a one minute conversation which just didn't make sense for the characters. Overall writing felt really.. stilted? Blah. This definitely wasn't a terrible book, but it lacked any proper build up. It's okay if you looking for some spicy Romance scenes but trust me if you don't like the characters no romance will fix it.

A river enchanted by Rebecca Ross

Scottish folk tale inspired fantasy with enemies to lovers that is set on a fictional island of Cadence! Yesss please!

This book was so beautiful each character had their own voice that was so strong I swear I could hear them talking. The cozy feeling this book left in was not what I was expecting from a fantasy book but now I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. One thing i have to say is that besides the slow pacing, it felt very much like a YA. Which is not bad by any means, but i've only seen this marketed as adult. There were some adult scenes that were written very poetically/vague or fade to black which felt right in line with overall cozy adventure/storyline of this novel.

The people we hate at wedding by grant ginger

If you have ever been to a wedding this book hits it right on the head (well if you have a disfuctional family that is). The characters are all very self-centered which makes it hard to get into the book just because there is no "good guy". Whoever this

book goes a good steady pace and is easy to listen to. I expected a bit more of a WOW factor at the end but it did feel very realistic at least for this wedding. The different characters each came with. their own sets of drama and storylines that both narrators brilliants brought to light. I wish I liked at least one characters personality in the end.

An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten

So when I saw An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good, I knew there's no way I could pass it up. I mean just look at the title who would not be interested so without even reading what it was about I brought it home. I was so glad I picked up this book not only is the main star a cheeky old woman but, she truly is up to no good. Maude is not your average granny she is the serial killer you'll be cheering for as the book moves a long. If you want a good laugh definitely pick up this love short read
